Tafhimul Islam has been working as a Lecturer in the Department of Environment and Development Studies (EDS) at United International University (UIU) since September 18, 2023. Prior to this, he worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Dhaka International University from August 02, 2022 to September 17, 2023.
He completed his BSS and MSS degree in Social Welfare from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (ISWR) at the University of Dhaka with 2nd position. Mr. Islam is also working as a Research Associate at a research institute headed by some renowned faculty members of the University of Dhaka. He is actively connected with different socio-economic research projects funded by different ministries or departments of GoB, UGC, BENBEIS, and the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
His research interests include but are not limited to socioeconomic changes, development, environment, climate change, the 4th industrial revolution, social services, poverty reduction, and women’s development. His Master’s thesis titled Changing Socio-economic Trends in Rural Community: A Bangladesh Case Study has been published as a book chapter from India. He also attended several national and international conferences, training programs, and workshops to upgrade his knowledge and skills. At his prior workplace, he conducted several courses viz. Social Problems in Bangladesh, Sociology of Migration, Sociology of Poverty, Society and Economy of Bangladesh, Western Social Thought, Political Thought in the East etc. Currently, he is conducting Bangladesh Studies and Sociology-related courses at United International University.

Apart from these, he has also keen interests in travelling, reading books, watching educational videos, and playing cricket.
