Biography

Dr. Shantanu Kumar Saha is an academic with a diverse background in both science and social science. He has been working in academia since 2008 and has experience in national and foreign institutes. He is currently teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in different Departments of UIU. His responsibilities include curriculum development, research, administrative tasks, and organizing professional conferences and events. In addition to his current role, Dr. Saha has previously taught at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Keele University in the United Kingdom, and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Japan.

Outside of academia, Dr. Saha has gained valuable experience as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Futures at Keele University in the United Kingdom and as an Intern at the Centre for Non-Traditional Security Studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Dr. Saha has a Ph.D. in Asia Pacific Studies with a concentration in Social Science (Environment & Development Studies) from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan. He also holds a Master of Science in International Cooperation Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with Honors. He has conducted research on various topics such as climate change adaptation, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, and sustainable development.

Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Saha’s remarkable achievements have been recognized through a series of prestigious fellowships and scholarships, including the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Fellowship, the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship (Sylff), the Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship, and The Fuji Xerox Setsutaro Kobayashi Memorial Fund.

Dr. Saha’s research covers a wide range of important topics, including climate change adaptation, poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development. His work is well-represented in academia, with publications in respected academic journals, a book published by Routledge, several book chapters, and various research reports.
